Rotary Meeting 3379 Time: Oct 20, 2020 06:00 PM Adelaide
Melbourne Cup Day at the Golf Club the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge celebrated Hat Day Lifting the Lid on MENTAL Health. The winning hats were on Sue Foster and Peter Jarvis helping to raise funds in these trying times. Rotarian Roxanne Rowland reported on the very successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle BBQ on Saturday, still a great way to raise funds for Rotary Projects. The Murray Bridge community has been very supportive. In addition she reported on the planning being done by Murray Bridge High School students to support the Homeless Youth Housing project. Also Rotarian Sam Cozens showed a shawl made by a group of lady friends of Elizabeth for the Shawls of Love Project. These were to go to Ethiopia to the Hamlin Project but due to covid restrictions we have decided for these to go to last years bushfire victims. One box has already been sent and the second is currently under production.
Bread Tags for Wheelchairs
Roana is the recipient of the 10th wheelchair provided using funds from recycling Aussie Bread Tags. This is the first wheelchair provided via our new partnership with Rotary Algoa Bay in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. We are excited to be working with Rotary in this area as they have established contacts in disability and aged care services and are very enthusiastic about our program. We are hoping this is the first of many wheelchairs we can fund in this region.
