Oscar Hoff from Karoonda Area School, Laura Sutton and Natalie Staker from Murray Bridge High School were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge to attend the RYPEN Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment weekend Camp at Belair. They reported on the many activities and what they got out of going to the Rotarians on Tuesday's dinner meeting. Topics included building leadership skills, mental health, careers paths, relationships management, communication ideas, public speaking.... debating skills, and using social media particularly to take care what you post. Real Life Issues discussed in workshop and talks included cost of petrol, global warming, listening skills, littering the oceans, and life after RYPEN. Meeting Chair Rotarian Jan Cowell led an interesting question time after their presentation. The students thanked Rotary for the support they received. The RYPEN experience is available for students aged 15 to 17 years. Enquire through your local Rotary Club, secondary school, or on line.

Secondhand treasures book sale raises $95,000
When five trucks arrived at a secondary school in the city of Venlo in the Netherlands, members of the Rotary Club of Venlo-Maas en Peel were ready.
The trucks were filled with items to be sold at the club’s 33rd annual book and record sale. The seven-day event in early January raised $95,000 that will go toward projects that improve the lives of children in Brazil, Malawi, Peru, and Sri Lanka.
In partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the club mustered about 200 volunteers, including people who are not Rotary members, who made sure the event went off without a hitch. About 10,000 book and record aficionados from throughout the Netherlands, and from other countries including Germany and Belgium, attended the sale and took home 60,000 books and 15,000 records.
The club members work throughout the year to organize the fair. The club has drop-off points for book and record donations, and volunteers sort through them twice a week.
The items are categorized by genre, and a coordinator responsible for each category makes the final decision on what will be included in the sale. Most books sell for between 50 cents and $2.50, but those that are new or special can cost between $3 and $50.

Green Sheet
Currently our Green Sheet only is seen by those who are actually at our meetings and sometimes it does not get to all tables.
In an effort to enable ALL MEMBERS TO BECOME ENGAGED, the Volunteer Module within ClubRunner has been activated.
All members will have recently received an email generated from within ClubRunner inviting you to volunteer for the upcoming Murray Bridge High School Catering. Once you click the sign up button you will be asked to select either or both of the time slots available.
This system is working well in other Clubs and enables ALL ROTARIANS to contribute to the projects of their Club.
Please give it a try and provide feedback next meeting.
