Rotary Club of West Lakes is visiting the Murray Bridge area and member of local Rotary clubs are invited to join West Lakes members for a Saturday evening meal.
October is here along with the start of daylight savings, time to adjust the clocks & enjoy longer daylight in the arvo.
Last Tuesday evening our Rotarians & Partners enjoyed a different style of meeting as members were away, Rtn. Jenny Phillips PP, Program Officer provided a brief report.
"Our Rotary meeting on September 29th was a social evening due to many members being away on the Environmental Youth Camp. 10 Rotarians and 3 partners met at the 1924 Riverfront Restaurant (one of our Calendar sponsors), for a social get-together. It was a balmy night, lovely view of the river, a few bugs flying around, but we enjoyed good food, great fellowship and the opportunity to discuss many topics in a relaxing setting."
Monday 28th Sept to Thursday 1st Oct., a big thank you to our 10 Rotarians along with 1 partner delivering our fourth Rotary Club of Murray Bridge Environmental Youth Program, this year we went to a new location Willow Creek Adventure Camp along with the educational activities with Beyond the Classroom. 13 Students from 7 schools “Callington Primary, Coomandook Area, Jervois Primary, Mypolonga Primary, Mannum Community College, Swan Reach Area and Unity College.” The program and venue I feel was a success, once we have a debrief of the week I will provide a more in-depth report. I can note the program delivered was well received by the students, the venue opens completely new opportunities for all of us to experience and work with when compared to our previous Calperum Station area. We enjoyed a visit to 2 beach locations, along with green hilly paddocks, and our fantastic Australian bush.
Having this program closer to Murray Bridge also provides an opportunity for our members to call in and have a look at what the program provides to the young people. One of our newest Rotarians Brayden George came down on the Monday & Tuesday evenings, the students really enjoyed Brayden’s company and made the most to include a younger Rotarian in their nightly activities. On the Wednesday we had three special visitors, DG Tim Mee arrived around 9:00am for the day & enjoyed being involved with the students while they completed three different activities through the day, and our lovely Rtn. Sam & Liz Cozens called in and shared lunch with our young people this really made the day extra special.
