Last Tuesdays speaker: Wendy Ziersch “My Cancer Journey” what an eye opener, thank you to everyone who were able to attend. Everyone throughout life has a connection with cancer either personally, or through family or acquaintance. The information Wendy provided us was delivered personally and impactful, starting off with a quiz which did show a lot of us don’t really understand the symptoms or maybe the importance of seeking out extra support when symptoms appear. On behalf of our Rotary Club of Murray Bridge thank you again Wendy. These types of stories remain in our minds, and encourage us to investigate further when things just do not appear right. https://practiceimprovementspecialist.com.au/ https://nbcf.org.au/about-breast-cancer/breast-cancer-stats/
Wednesday, 4 November – Rotary Assisting Local Youth (RALY)
For the second consecutive year, Rotary Assisting Local Youth (RALY) delivered a special experience to another primary school in our region. This year, 81 students from Mypolonga Primary School, ranging from Reception to Year 4, enjoyed a visit to the Semaphore Carousel.
Rotarians and their partners accompanied the children, ensuring they remained safe while enjoying this exciting adventure. The Rotary Clubs of Murray Bridge and Mobilong shared the cost of bus transport, while the Rotary Club of Henley Beach generously provided and operated the carousel.
There was no cost to the school, other than the time involved in partnering with Rotary. The children brought their own lunches, while RALY provided some additional treats, including fruit boxes and watermelon.
Although the weather was a little windy, as can often be expected at the beach, the rain held off and everyone enjoyed a wonderful day. I am sure the Rotarians and their partners had just as much fun as the children, with a few even managing to sneak in a ride on the carousel!
Once the children had boarded the bus for their journey home, the Rotarians and partners enjoyed lunch together and some great fellowship.
It is always rewarding to see the happy smiles, enthusiasm and excellent behaviour of the young participants. Experiences such as this demonstrate the value of Rotary's involvement in providing memorable opportunities for children in our local community.
This week’s speaker: Committee Meetings are where we all as a team shape the plans for our future.
