PRESIDENT'S ROUND UP22nd January
I hope you all gained some information at last week’s meeting regarding our 70th Birthday next year and also our Rotary Awareness evening to be held on 31st January. I am sill asking members to try and find members of the public who could possibly become involved with Rotary. A recap of the night is finger food only with no set seating. NO charge to any of our guests. A few 3-5 minute presentation from members telling of their story of Rotary involvement. Members will be charged $20.We have 40 people booked in for the night and with what the names attending I have vacancies for 10 more guests.
The golf club has now informed us that the number members on the list behind the bar on Tuesday 12pm will be the number of meals your club will be paying for, so it is very important that you apologise before the cut of time. At last weeks Board meeting it was decided that the club is willing to pay a members meal cost once only for non-compliance.
The Mongolian play ground is gaining a lot of momentum and I know Roxanne will give a report of this over the coming weeks.
I would like to remind members of the night with Greg Page ( past Wiggles) speaking on his “Heart of the Nation” project. Once again another good night to bring guests along as this will be a very interesting night.
So please take care and see you on Tuesday night.
DONT FORGET TO BOOK THIS DAY IN YOUR CALENDAR!

Rhyme, Grind & Climb
The Rhyme, Grind and Climb event was moved to Pine Park due to flooding at Sturt Reserve.
On Saturday 14th Jan 2023 despite the weather, 43 degrees at 4pm then cool and windy later, still managed to draw a crowd who had a great day. The Station supported by the Rural City of Murray Bridge and the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge continues to work for local youth and their families to have fun. Activities included learning to skateboard, dance moves to hip hop, rhyme, rockfall climbing, spray painting art, mini golf, and environmental smoothie making. The Station has been consistantly providing music and support sevices to local youth. The Rural City of Murray Bridge provided free hamburgers and sausages whilst the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge sourced the ingredients and cooked in a partnership which has been ongoing for some years now. A Day In The Grove - Mypolonga
Enjoy a day in the grove at award-winning Rio Vista Olives - a haven found north of Adelaide near the Murray River - and indulge over lunch from three renowned chefs.
Start your Saturday with a sommelier-led tasting and grove tour, going behind the scenes to see how extra virgin olive oil is created. Then prepare to sit back and relax in the grove with a feast created by chefs Mark Best, Jason Roberts and Paul Farag. The trio will use luscious produce from across the Murray River, Lakes and Coorong, with wine parings from Fierce III - the newest label from the Barossa's Lou Miranda Estate.
Best is synonymous with Sydney restaurant Marque, the fine diner named among the world's 50 best for three consecutive years. It also held three hats in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for a decade, with Best moving on to a range of other culinary ventures when the venue closed in 2016. This legend of the Australian hospitality industry considers Rio Vista olive oil his all-time favourite.
Our Club has received another "gift card" from Dakes in the amount of $125.00 through their Community Dollars programme. Thank you to all members who have shopped at Drakes and registered their barcode. Please keep on doing this as it helps pay for groceries bought for bbqs etc. Any members who havn't a Drakes tag please see me. The tags are not just for members, you can give them to friends and family. You can use them at any Drakes store in South Australia.

End Polio Now
In 1985 Rotary launched PolioPlus to immunize every child in the world against polio. Working with our partners and members of the global health community, together we will end polio.
Through the science of vaccines, Rotary & partners have saved nearly 19 million children from becoming paralyzed by polio. Learn more about our work to End Polio Now and how you can get involved: https://on.rotary.org/3eqtrrr
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, and we’ve made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever.
It’s crucial to eradicate polio from the last two countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free.
If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.
What is polio?
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.
