The report this week will be brief as I have just returned from the Pioneer Adventure Day at Old Tailem Town.

Despite this event, the week has been extremely busy:

  • While we were not able to have our planned speaker on Tuesday, the video presentation by Elio Arruzza was amazing. The discussion of Parkinson’s Disease was enlightening – all the time knowing it is our scientists in Adelaide leading the challenge in this research
  • We continue to have our Rotary Art Show and thanks go to those members who are undertaking their service to the visitors
  • Thursday, we held our Biscuit Making Day – making 305 packets of biscuits for the Yellow Brick Road on Sunday. The activity saw our Rotary members working with Rotarians from Mobilong and Tailem Bend and Lions members from the Murray Bridge Lions Club, coming together at the Showgrounds Kitchen to make 11 varieties of biscuits before packing them in suitable quantities. Thanks to Lis and her friends for making biscuits at her house while Jack and his sister made Anzac Biscuits in his kitchen. The day was financed with funds from the Rural City of Murray Bridge Grant monies and honey donated by the Kiwanis Club of Murray Bridge
  • The main event of the week was the Pioneer Adventure today – while I don’t have any details of numbers etc at this early stage, I can say it was a huge success – with so many farmers recounting their thorough enjoyment of the activities and the day in general. Thanks to all members who assisted with the event – at the BBQ, at the 10 Yellow Brick Road stalls, as well as the Pantry and Pamper Pack stalls under the verandah.  We will have more details on the event and general discussions on the event at our meeting this week.

Art Show Attracts Cairns Visitors!

The Rotary Art Show has become well known across Australia with two visitors making the journey from Cairns just to see the exhibition … or … perhaps they were passing through!

Julieanne Sissman welcomed Sandy and Marry-Ann McEachan from Cairns Rotary Club Trinity during her time as a volunteer last week. Our visitors are keen  to learn more about our show as the Cairns show has lapsed.
