Meeting Report 3317

Rotarian Steve Walker General Manager of the Murray Bridge Radio Station incorporating 5MU and Power FM updated Rotarians and guests on developments in radio broadcasting. We got towers, transmitter sites, sine waves, electromagnetic waves, sound quality, content changes, radio history in Australia and overseas, the difference between AM and FM as well as the differences between regional radio and the city based. Radio certainly plays an important role in our lives.

Roxanne announced the Stem l State Award that Murray Bridge High School won with its Emergency Kid App that the four students developed and the support they will require to take it further in the National Awards.( see posts 14th and 15th July) Other activities during the next few months announced include Ten Pin Bowling, the High Tea Event for the Hamlin Fistula Project, Guess who's coming to Dinner, and the Rotary Golf Tournament with proceeds to lift the lid on Mental Illness.

Schools Plus

Dear Samuel,
We are delighted to receive your kind gift, which will help transform the lives of students in disadvantaged communities across Australia.
Because of the generosity of people like you, thousands of students now have the education opportunities that will help them reach their potential.
Passionate supporters like you have enabled schools to bring to life a range of projects – including pre-school programs for refugee children, initiatives to improve student and teacher wellbeing and coding and robotics lessons to equip students with skills for future jobs.
Read our 2018 Impact Report to find out how your support is making a difference.
On behalf of the students, teachers and principals who will benefit, thank you for your generosity.

National Youth Science Forum

The time has arrived! We are thrilled to welcome our next round of STEM Explorer participants to the program here in South Australia run together with @edu.sagov We're all looking forward to the next five days of STEM adventures. Today we're kicking off with some get to know you activities, science based of course, and an introduction from Dr Hannah Brown, the Chief Science Storyteller from @sahmri When Hannah, now in her thirties, was the same age as these students, drones, gene editing, and artificial intelligence didn't exist yet. We can only imagine the amazing STEM jobs that will be around in another 10-15 years when these students have finished their STEM studies!
