Thank you everyone attending last Tuesday evening. It was great to see visitors along with Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Mobilong share our meeting.
Speaker Alan Howard-Jones joined us from the Rotary Club of Modbury Golden Grove, spreading the story around the First Responder Mobile App project which will provide frontline emergency personnel (such as CFS, MFS, and SES) with real-time, evidence-informed guidance during high-risk calls involving animals—from road crashes to bushfires. Looking forward to the Bunnings BBQ partnership day Wednesday 28th October, SA & NT stores hosting with all proceeds going toward the project.
Tuesday evening, I had the privilege of completing the induction process of our two new & youngest members “Twins” Rtn. Brayden George and Rtn. Karl George who I feel will assist us greatly moving into the future of Rotary.
Rtn. John Scarvelis PP is their combined sponsor & mentor, along with mentors Rtn. Lyn Sickerdick for Brayden and Rtn. Roxanne Rowland PP for Karl. It was lovely to see their Mum Cheryl, along with Grandparents Ted and Sandy.
Rtn. Brayden classification “Community Services Manager”, joining the RALY (Rotary Assisting Local Youth” committee. Previously he was an Interact member in 2015 at Murray Bridge High School, participated in RYPEN, RYLA 2018, went to the Rotary Going Bush Youth Camp, and acted as a mentor at the Rotary Calperum Camp for Primary School Students. He has a Certificate in Business Management, volunteers for Lifeline and is currently studying a Diploma in Counselling.
Rtn. Karl classification “International Trade”, joining the International committee, currently working as International Trade Coordinator for a Logistics firm and has an interest in logistics, business and working with people from different backgrounds. He holds a Batchelor's Degree in Psychology and is currently studying a Master of Business Administration allowing him to continue to develop his knowledge across business, leadership and organizational environments. They are both looking forward to getting involved in local initiatives and making a meaningful contribution.
Early Monday morning 28th Sept our Rotarian support crew of 10 will be in action with our fourth Rotary Club of Murray Bridge Environmental Youth Program, early start with the first pick up in Swan Reach followed by Murray Bridge then off to our new venue for a 4-day experience with Beyond the Classroom, this year we are taking
13 Students from 7 schools “Callington Primary, Coomandook Area, Jervois Primary, Mypolonga Primary,
Mannum Community College, Swan Reach Area and Unity College. The program schedule looks great, and our lunch lady will ensure we are all well fed maintaining lots of energy to burn.
