"From Jordan Phillips, our AGFR John Hood Memorial Scholarship recipient, currently in the USA working as an intern greenkeeper.
Hi Greg.
Just thought I would touch base with you and let you know how it’s all going so far.
It’s been a weird start to all this with covid-19 still very active over here but I have been working flat out on a 10 days on 2 days off roster.
Due to covid the John Deere classic tournament had to be moved from another course to muirfield, which is now being run the week before the Memorial Tournament. Nothing like this has ever been done on this scale and it’s going to be great to be apart of it in the coming weeks. I’m learning a lot of new things that I’m going to be able to bring home with me and hopefully help me progress my career in this industry.
After the tournaments I am doing an intern swap for a week where they will Send me to Oakmont Country Club for a week to see how they do things at their course.
I'm having a really good time and so grateful for this opportunity that Rotary has given me.
It’s always such a great surprise for our sponsors to receive letters from the St Jude’s students whose scholarships they support. Well, surprise! You will find their letters to you attached, we hope you will enjoy reading it.
While they are studying from home, they were excited to have the opportunity to write a letter to you thanking you for your continuous support towards her academic scholarship, especially during this challenging time the world is facing.
Due to COVID-19, we have decided to scan and email you their letters. They will hit your inbox much quicker than it would your letterbox!
On behalf of them and all of us at St Jude’s, thank you, All at Rotary Club of Murray Bridge, for your continued support through this challenging time.
We hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well.
P.S. If we receive any letters from you, we will keep until we have the opportunity to be able to send it to them.
