The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge gathers at the Bridgeport Hotel 2 Bridge St, Murray Bridge on Tuesday evenings. Fellowship from 6.00pm with Dinner starting at 6.15pm. Apologies or guests to be notified to Jacquie Best by 12pm Monday. 0409 377 343
Our Tuesday guest speaker, Suellen Scutter, certainly inspired us with her presentation of ‘Who Am I?’, sharing her journey from childhood, overseas exchanges, sports and family to her current position in our Rotary Club.
With the Epic Day of Service set for Saturday 16th May, some of us registered to attend an information webinar on the wider concept. Robin will present more information on this topic at our weekly gathering on Tuesday
Our Club’s involvement with RORP (Rotary Overseas Repurposed Playgrounds) continues to be strong. (see report below)
On Friday, I joined Vicki and Jim Mason, Rotarians Kevin and Robin and Monarto Safari Resort staff Sarah and Adreas to celebrate Vicki’s winning the Monarto Safari Resort Raffle held late in 2025. The setting was overlooking the waterhole in front of the resort and as photos were being taken, the giraffes understood their role – and came to the waterhole to be involved in the photo shoot – perfect timing. Congratulations Vicki – we hope you and Jim have an amazing time at the resort – and we can’t wait for all the details and photos after the event
As the Rotary Awareness Showcase draws near, we are reminded to get our invitations out and replies back to IPP Jenny for catering purposes. Committee Directors are busy organising their displays and ensuring we have as many presenters at the displays as possible. Have you sent out all your invitations? How many community members will you have in attendance? See President-Elect Simon’s emails if you need more invitations – either electronic or paper versions
Vocational Director, Stephen Walker, has asked members to consider volunteering as a Camp Parent for the 2026 RYLA program at the Nunyara Conference Centre, from 3/1026 to 9/10/26. An email has been sent to all members outlining the Role Description. If you are at all interested, please contact President-Elect Simon or Vocational Director Stephen.
Have you booked your tickets for:
Service Clubs Presentation Awards?
International Women’s Day Breakfast?
Rotary Summit in Horsham?
Now, it’s time to prepare to attend the ‘ABBA Revival Trivia Night’ organised by the Rotary Club of Adelaide Central – looks like a great night out.
Looking to seeing you all at Tuesday’s gathering

RORP Update – a project of Group 7 within 9510
Two playgrounds have been dismantled since New Year’s Day with the first at Longman Reserve (organised and dismantled by RC West Beach) and the latest at the Lyell McEwin Hospital undertaken on January 20th under the guidance of Rotarian Marie-Louise Lees from the RC Gawler Light. Rotary Clubs of Elizabeth and Gawler Light provided most of the team with other volunteers from a range of clubs.
IPP Jenny continues to organise all the required documentation with councils & venues, including the invoicing to recoup funds, while Rob has used his excellent IT skills to code both playgrounds so teams can dismantle the playground and have it labelled for a successful rebuild. My role has been in the area of Risk Management, having to update the Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) while working with a new Risk Management document being trialled by Rotary for these bigger projects. So far, so good, just some minor adjustments based on the induction information and documents signed we all had to sign at the Hospital
At our recent ‘Teams’ Committee meeting (Thursday 29th January), we discussed the next 5 playgrounds to be dismantled by mid-April – these are within the City of Charles Sturt at Croydon (2 playgrounds), Seaton and Allenby Gardens. The Rotary Club of Gawler Light is also looking to dismantle a playground in Evanston Park.
The RC Whyalla (Brian) has been busy in their region with 4 playgrounds dismantled and are ready for transport to RARE in Adelaide.
The next step is to identify overseas destinations for these playgrounds. If you have any ideas of clubs/regions/contacts overseas that may be able to benefit from receiving playgrounds – 1 playground or multiple playgrounds – please discuss this with myself, IPP Jenny or Rob and we will look to repurposing these playgrounds asap.

Who Am I!
Last week our speaker was Suellen Scutter who outlined her life's journey.
This was an inspiring presentation and you are urged to read more on our Facebook page via the link below.
On our Australia Day Celebration at Edwards Square, our Rotary Club was very visibly engaged in the community business of the Rural City of Murray Bridge.
We enjoyed the convivial company with many of our community neighbours as we shared a tasty breakfast.
We collectively recognized the special service of a number of our community colleagues as they were presented with awards.
We were very happy to welcome quite a few new arrivals who have joined us as citizens of Australia,
And the Band played Waltzing Matilda beautifully.
Thankyou to Elizabeth, Roxanne, Suellen, Julieanne, Jacquie, Lesley, Jack, Mark, and Kevin, for providing a warm personal service to the people who attended our Australia Day Celebration in Edwards Square.
Our pancake production was so successful we had to supplement our supplies at short notice.
Our Rural City Office provided sufficient funds to cover our expenses, and some generous donations floated and rattled into our tin in appreciation.

Epic Day Of Service
Picture the incredible power of every club in our zone coming together, each taking on a project that ignites their passion, all on the same day! Imagine the energy as we unite, side by side, to make a difference and reveal Rotary’s true impact within our communities.
In 2025, Rotarians, Rotaractors, and community partners from five continents, eight countries, 20 states, 57 districts and 539 clubs joined forces in 613 projects, with 6,557 volunteers serving together. Nine of those clubs were ours – just think how much greater our impact will be if we step up even further in 2026. The possibilities are limitless, and the ripple effect of our service can inspire real, lasting change!
