Last week’s meeting was held on the Wednesday forming part of the Combined Service Clubs changeover dinner.
It was great to see majority of our Rotarians & Partners supporting this event. The evening ran quite smoothly chaired by PDG Carolyn Kilpatrick Lions Club of Murray Bridge City Inc. I enjoyed my dinner meal especially the sticky date for dessert. Guest Speaker Alix Katala Development Director from the Lions Assistance Dogs spoke about the Lions assistance dogs’ program and told her story about how she has been a long-standing volunteer from a very young age firstly helping her father support other people & making a difference. Lions Assistance Dogs founded in 1980 with the delivery of their first dog in 1982, a not-for-profit organisation providing life-changing Assistance Dogs to Australians in need, free of charge. Located temporarily in Hahndorf, South Australia whilst the redevelopment of our National Training Centre is underway, we provide Hearing Assistance Dogs, Medical Assistance Dogs and Psychiatric Assistance Dogs Australia-wide. As our members know Lyn & I have a connection with the Lions Assistance program. Now on our 6th puppy with our recent foster Bonney arriving last Wednesday morning. Bonney is an 8-week-old labradoodle, very little, cute puppy who may be just settling down to sleeping all night “she does have an opinion toward when it should be play time”!

Throughout the evening Rtn. Stephen Walker provided a 5-minute brief about the Combined Service Clubs partnering with the Rural City of Murray Bridge Council to ensure the Christmas Pageant continues. All our service clubs should be proud of this commitment “well done to all”.
Mr Tony Pasin MP, Member for Barker provided a short but impactful speech, congratulating everyone toward their support to the local & wider communities.
This week’s speaker Rachel Fanguna, Regional Coordinator at The Salvation Army Australia will be presenting about the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, the scheme operates across rural and regional Australia, covering industries such as agriculture, select agriculture-related food product manufacturing, meat processing, and aged care.
This Wednesday, October 28, all Bunnings stores across South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT) are launching a joint fundraising sausage sizzle to support the development of a new First Responders Mobile App.
This special weekday event is a collaborative initiative in partnership with all Rotary Clubs and Bunnings Warehouses across both regions. The money raised from this regional event will fund the creation of a dedicated mobile application designed specifically for First Responders who attend critical emergency situations where animals are involved. Bunnings have also organised a raffle to be sold on the day, come along and support us partnering with Bunnings toward making a difference. https://www.rotarymgg.org.au/first-responder-mobile-app/
